We're Hiring: Assistant Store Manager

We're a small, independent children's boutique on Bainbridge Island, and we're looking for an Assistant Store Manager to help us take great care of our customers and our team.

Assistant Store Manager — Part-Time (20–30 hrs/week)

We need a steady, trustworthy second-in-command who can run the store with confidence on the days we're not there, keep our small team on track, and make sure every customer gets the kind of personal service that keeps families coming back.

What You'll Do

• Open and close the store independently — cash handling, register close-out, deposits, and alarm/security procedures
• Supervise and schedule store associates, including covering call-outs and giving day-to-day direction on shift
• Train new associates on store procedures, product knowledge, and our customer service standards
• Handle customer questions, returns, and any issues that come up on the floor
• Support inventory — receiving shipments, restocking, and flagging low stock or reorder needs
• Maintain merchandising and store presentation standards
• Partner with the owner on day-to-day operating decisions when they're off-site

What We're Looking For

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of retail experience
• Comfortable being the person “in charge” when the owner isn't in the store
• Available for evening and weekend shifts, including solo shifts
• Trustworthy with cash handling and store security
• A clear, confident communicator who can direct a small team, including younger staff

Preferred:

• Experience in kids', apparel, or gift retail
• Prior keyholder, shift lead, or supervisory experience
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems (we use Shopify)

Compensation & Benefits

$22–$26/hour, based on experience. Part-time, approximately 20–30 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends. Employee discount on all store merchandise.
